GENERAL PROGRAMME EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
#

General

This is a three year programme designed for those who would want to teach at primary school from Grade one to Grade seven. The course is offered on 3-3-3 basis where the first three terms are spent at college, laying theoretical basis for the following three terms of teaching practice and finally three terms spent residentially at college to consolidate and complete the syllabus culminating in the final examinations. The course is divided into four sections as follows:

  • > Theory of education
  • > Academic/Main study
  • > Professional studies

The programme is designed in such a way that the first three residential terms equip the students with theoretical basis of teaching which will followed by three terms of practice and further coverage of course content. The last three terms seek to consolidate what the student learned during deductions made from teaching practice

Early Childhood Development

The E.C.D programme is a three year pre-service teacher education course. The course offers the student teachers specialist knowledge and skills to care for babies (0-12 months), and toddlers (2-3 years) and effectively teaches at pre-school and infant grade levels. The course follows a 3-3-3 teacher education training.
